In 1901, a group of twelve men came together to create an organization of fraternity unlike any other. The young Carter Ashton Jenkins, along with the help of the other eleven founding fathers, sought to establish a fraternity based on Judeo/Christian ideals, and an organization in which true brotherhood could flourish. From its very origins, SigEp was to be something unique. The founding fathers saw the flaws of the existing fraternities and focused on ways to design a better fraternity model. Sigma Phi Epsilon was founded on the cardinal principles of virtue, diligence, and brotherly love, and this tradition of brotherly excellence dwells in the core of every chapter and in the heart of every SigEp.
